Welcome to CollaborArt! This is a collaborative art project where advanced high school art students interview local artist and compose biographies. Art classes routinely study famous artists and tend to neglect local ones. We should expand our art classrooms and learn to use the resources available around us. This collaborative art project posts biographies written by art students for the sake of exposing community artists and promote art student's growth. Our goal is to integrate technology for the purpose of looking at community artists from across the country to equate how culture influences art. Students will gain new insight, writing skills and knowledge to grow individually as an artist. This comprehensive educational program has been planned for students to use technology in a collaborative manner. This program's intent is to have students interview a local artist, answer some basic questions in paragraph form and submit them online. Once an interview has been submitted each student reads an online biography for the purpose of comparison. The classroom teacher decides how to assess the use of our site. However, we do have the documentation written for teachers to implement CollaborArt into his or her curriculum.
Teachers, I encourage you to persuade your students to take part in our collaborative project. Even better, make this site part of your classroom curriculum. This project's goal is for students to interview artist in his or her own community and write a biography to share with other students. Students will grow as artists after they post and read another student's written biography. Students who read our posted art biographies gain new knowledge and desire to be an artist themselves. Individuals who spend time reading our biographies are enriched with new ideas, concepts and techniques. Students who write and submit biographies are inspired and encouraged by the local artists themselves. A bond between the student and local artist will ensue.
Once a biography is submitted my classroom students become editors! It becomes my classroom's responsibility to edit the incoming biographies. In all, this is a student powered collaborative project from submission to post. This project is FREE! However, it is a school run project. Postings will only be accepted from October 1, 2008 through the month of April 2009. Your school will need to enroll and recieve an access code. This code will ensure only the students with permission can submit biographies. Classroom art teachers may enroll by submitting our "enrollment form." We will REPLY to you concerning your request for access. Are you ready to become a member of CollaborArt?
I want to thank you in advance for taking part in my classroom's project. It will be educational and fun for all of us!
